I am trying to memorize a poetry deconstrction for tomorrow, and I wish to listen to a recording of it while I sleep. Is it safe for me to do that? Will it damage my ears? What volume level is safe to listen too? I will be using standard iPod earphones. Is there a time limit I should listen to it for? Many question I know, I just dont want to risk ear damage. Many thanks if you can help.

As long as the sound pressure level is appropriate your biggest risk would be strangling yourself with the cord or irritation caused by the ear buds. Just plug in some speakers instead, works just as well and you do not need to wear anything into bed with you.
