You know, there are people who takes their devices, and checks the current in the socket-contacts,to make sure that everything is ok. I have to put it into a noun phrase. Please, tell me if the following phrase is ok:
"taking control measurements of the socket-contact wires"

What's wrong with plain English?
I just can't stand it when people reveal their stupidity (not you, by the way, I'm just on a tear) by throwing in some high-falutin' vocabulary that doesn't really exactly express their meaning, but they think it sounds good. As the person doesn't know the nuance and shade of meaning of that word, he just looks foolish.
