While I thought the movie was adequate, it had a lot of lfaws. I was disappointed. Some woman here on Yahoo Answers had said it was so scary that she had to sleep with the light on after seeing it so I had hoped for a really scary movie but, like I said, it was just adequate.

I'll grant that the scenery was good, loved the little sleepy town, the cemetery was PERFECT, the Dad's mansion was cool and the decrepit old theater was awesome but it wasn't that scary. Oh, sure, there were moments, but....

****SPOILER ALERT - DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM BECAUSE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS****...

I found several things about the movie disappointing.

First of all, as soon as I knew there was a pretty and new stepmother, I knew she sent the puppet. I was wrong about the motive, I thought she did it to nail the inheritance, but I was sure she sent the puppet.

Secondly, it was obvious that his Dad was a puppet, too, and that she was animating him. I spotted that right away, too, so it was no big surprise at the end of the film.

Third, some people didn't realize the dead wife was pregnant until the killer clown puppet said "You weren't the last Asher, she was pregnant!" but I knew she was pregnant before she died. It was pretty obvious when she put the towel or blanket or whatever under her shirt and stopped to admire herself in the mirror.

Don't get me wrong, the movie was OK, but there were flaws. Like the moron's looking at Mary Shaw's book then scoots out of the theater without finishing. Hullo! Anyone with half a brain would have taken the book with him!! Plus why was Mary haunting the town? Just plain evil? At first they hinted it was because she was wrongly killed but, once you find the dead boy's body, it's clear that she deserved what the town did to her.

Plus both the guy and his pregnant wife knew the Mary Shaw legend yet he leaves her alone with the strange pupped and runs off to buy Chinese take-out. What? Restaurants in a town that size don't deliver? It's like Darwin's theory demonstrated on screen, maybe that moron's genes DON'T deserve to be in the gene pool.

Now, the clown puppet was pretty scary looking... and the dead boy's body was creepy enough.... I'll grant the movie had moments but I was kind of disappointed.
