well my best friend is californian but now lives here in australia and she is constantly being asked if she is canadian by australians. i think that is just because she might have a bit of an aussie twang in there now with the american accent. she has been here for nearly 6 years

EVERYONE has an accent, recognising it and replicating or explaining it is very difficult for someone else to do, especially if they have a strong accent of their own. i am Scottish and do not have enough experience to explain what yours is like, but i know you must have one!!

I hail from California and I get told that I speak w/an accent. I would guess it is because we don't have the drawl that they do out here.
I get told "you ain't from here are you?" or "your a Yankee ain't ya?"
