Hamsters are very delicate creatures and have a life span of only 1 to 2 years at the very most. It doesnt sound very promising with your hamster but I dont think many of us on here are experienced enough to be able to give a diagnosis. Take him to the vet.

Sounds like a tumour or something. Small rodents are very good at hiding signs of illness, until it is too late to do anything about it. If you can, you need to get her to a vet asap to end her suffering, failing that just keep her warm and leave her to it, without any interference, as being handled is the last thing she wants.
Unfortunately, this is just one of those things when it comes to having animals, particularly rodent.
My thoughts are with you and the hamster

Hamsters suffer from a disease called "wet tail". Unfortunately they very rarely recover and the poor little creature is suffering. If she doesn't pass away quickly, you could always ask your vet to put her to sleep. I know its a very sad thing, but sadly hamsters dont have a very long lifespan and I'm sure you wouldn't want her to suffer. Good luck - I'm sure you both love her very much. They are lovely little creatures.

I think you need to call the vet and tell them the symptoms, all vets have emergancy so if you call you will get a response. I know its only a hamster but its still part of the family and its not fair on you, your sister or the hamster to see it in pain. Please call the vet its cruel not to, good luck and hope everything goes well for you xxx

hamsters all go to heaven after around about 2 years. sounds like its been eating plastic. take it to the vet. but they will put it down. hamsters like all animals have a limited amount of heartbeats but hamsters use theirs very fast. 200bpm, humans 80bpm elephants 40 bpm and tortises 30 bpm. honestly no vet is going to perfom surgery on a pet that can be replaced for 10 quid and has a life span of 2 years at great finiancial cost to you.

im so sorry about your hamster, the most genle thing to say to your little sister is that honey is on her way to hamster heaven im afraid.
Hamsters are very small and delicate creatures. Once they are sick or ill they rarley get better, but either way, you must get her to vet, and fast. She must be very scared and in pain, so please let her be at peace and allow the vet to put her to sleep.

i am sorry to her about your little hamster. i wish there was something i could tell you, but the first answerer is right. ours did that too about 13 years ago, and she passed on. just keep talking to her and telling her how much you love her and how special she is. she knows you are there and hears your voices. no matter how young or old you are,it hurts like heck when you loose a pet. we just lost our kitten 0n 3-21-07 to f.i.p. and we only had him a little over a month.

Take your hamster to the vets, it sounds to me that he/she has got a severe cold and needs to see medical attention from the vets; who will probally give you some medicine to help him/her get better. In the meantime make sure he/she has a supply of fresh water and make sure that it is nice and warm. Hope that it is ok xxxx
