It's a matter of efficiencency. Teachers are not human encyclopedias or calculators. Our job is to teach processes and concepts, how to find information, and other skills that help ungrateful students become better learners. Your statements and the statements of many of your posters goes to show that we are unappreciated and under-valued. I hold more college degrees than many other highly paid professionals. But my pay can be earned by an executive's secretary, whom probably has no more that an high school diploma, yet I come back year after year because I have a passion and love for what I do...even with punk kids like you. I'm not complaining, because I love what I do, but come on...show some respect. There would be no doctors or lawyers if it weren't for teachers.

Teachers need the answer books to refer back when checking your WRONG answers.... as a teacher I see so many wrong answers when I am grading over 100 tests that you start to mark the wrong answers right because you make silly errors. And maybe you should pay more attention to what the teacher is teaching you rather than if they need answer books. WE DON'T NEED ANSWER BOOKS, It just makes things easier.

If they knew the answers to every question then your teacher would be Ted Jennings, or whatever that Jeapordy guys name was. They are only human, they only have so many right answers and they can't possibly know something about everything or everything about something. They are not there to have all the answers but to relay the information on how to get answers, to you. They teach you so that you can hopefully surpass their knowledge. That would make it a lot harder if they really were as big of a brainiac as some think they should be. They need only be well at communication to teach you.

I've taught eight years and I do not use the teacher's answer books.
1. There are too many errors in them.
2. By figuring out the answers, it helps me keep current with the material and problems kids may face when they try to solve them.

so that their teacher aids can correct it for them. My History teacher last year had to correct the tests herself because her teachers aid was marking a lot of wrong answers correct. It was funny.

Because teaching is about far more than knowing answers. It's about imparting skills on how to think, reason, search for answers to others.
