50s & 60s pop and whether it's the Beatles, Del Shannon, Cilla Black...I could sing ANY words!
Too many bloody car journeys with it all on.
Whoever did that "Hooked on Classics" needs stringing up!

in the early 80's my parents listened to country....so now I find it amazing when an old country song plays that I know all the words still...I usually don't know the artist so I'll try to find it on the internet before I forget some of the lyrics since it seems I only remember all the lyrics while the song is playing on the radio
the only time I listen to radio is in the car while driving, so as you can imagine, I've already forgotten most of the songs I've heard by the time I get home to look it up on the internet

My dad liked The Who, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, lots and lots of punk, and other bands I can't remember but are along the same lines as the ones I just named. My mum - bad 70's/80's pop, mostly. :) Adam and the Ants, Bay City Rollers, Duran Duran.... My grandparents like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin etc, so I know a lot of that kind of music too.
I share my musical taste with my dad mostly, so I know quite a lot of the lyrics - especially The Who and Stiff Little Fingers, and I've even recommended bands to him. My mum...not so much. I inherited my dad's dislike of 80's pop, I think.
I'm possibly the only 17 year old girl in the world who can listen to Metallica one minute and Dean Martin the next, and know all the words to both. :)

I've been brought up on quite a variety given the age gap between my parents. My Dad 's tastes tend to vary round early 60s to late 70s. Mum likes a variety from mid 70s to early 90s which was her era, so to speak. Interestingly enough, I also like a lot of old music that my Mum and Dad can't stand, e.g. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin etc.

My mum and dad listened to the sixties, they played it all the time,so i have to admit i know a lot of the songs from the 60's and their artists!! Some of them are great though, you can understand every word.
Their song was sonny&cher i got you babe!! Think we all know the words to that one>
However i have to agree with you about capital gold, i feel really old when i listen to that, the other day wham was playing.
Good question by the way!!!!

My momma listens to the same music I do(rap/hip-hop r&b) and every now and then stuff from the 70's or 80's but I like that stuff too. So my momma has a great tast in music. She was a real big Micheal Jackson fan when she was a teenager.
