We don't actually know, the current theory is that during fetal development hormones are not released at the proper time, resulting in a female brain in a male body, or vice versa. We are unsure what causes crossdressing. The reason that they exist is because we are unable to drug or electroshock them into being happy with their bodies, so we have to change the body, not the mind. Hopefully they gain the acceptance of their bodies afterwards that you have enjoyed without thought your entire life.

i do not pretend to know. i believe that some people are born just the way they are. they have no choice in their inner mind as to what they are on the outside. the inside however may be telling them that they are the opposite sex. we all start out as females in the womb. that is a known fact. maybe some males have more females and some females have more males inside their bodies. everyone has rights and must be respected for that as well. we are not going to judge them in the end anyways. live and let live is a good credo.
