Black supposedly transfers heat better than other colors.

Black radiators tend to be less visible through the grille also.

EDIT PART--- It's not for rust. Radiators are made of copper, brass, or aluminum. They won't rust. Aluminum will oxidize and paint will speed that up due to trapping moisture. Most aluminun radiators and condensors are left unpainted.

Black transfers heat better. It's why SR71s are painted black. Not to look mean, but to radiate the heat they pick up at mach 3 more efficiently.

The radiator is supposed to release heat and not absorb it.
Its usually always a dark color to enable mechanics to easily detect leaks. If you notice, the coolant is a bright color which is easily seen on a dark surface.

Both reasons mentioned. Deflects heat and resists rust. Bare metal is rust's best friend.
