I see breast feeding in public the same way I see people peeing in public. It shouldnt happen. There are places to go to be private should you choose to do that. I don't want to see it and I sure as heck don't want my kids to have to see it.
Natural process or not theres no need to whip it out....peeings natural too....should we have to watch that...I dont think so. Don't watch. Bet these are the same people that are the ones complaining that there are scenes on tv inappropriate for children. Look, personal choices are that for a reason and should be kept that way.
Even kids who are breastfed still scream in public. They don't only cry because they are hungry.
No ones telling people not to breast feed, if thats your choice fine, just do it in private....

I breast fed both my girls and I feel that it is natural and beautiful. But, I also think that not everyone was comfortable with me doing it all out in the open! So, I often would go somewhere secluded to feed my babies, just in respect to everyone involved. If I were that lady in the cafe, I might have turned my back to the other patrons or asked for a corner or side table, away from the open area.

Absolutly acceptable. In "days of yore" a woman used a blanket (some still do) to cover the breast while the child nursed. Today there are all kinds of accessories which allow a nursing mother to feed her baby without exposing herself. Besides, I see nothing sexually exciting about a mother feeding her child. Any man that gets a thrill out of such a natural thing has a real problem.

I think it is natural , however I do believe that women should cover up while breastfeeding. Not everyone is comfortable and I am not comfortable around it. While it is natural it is still a personal, private act that is shared between mom and baby.... not mom, baby and the guy sitting next to them at the cafe.
And yes, I am a woman who may someday breastfeed my child... discreetly.

you know. I'm a Mom. and i think that breastfeeding is wonderful.. however a lot of places offer special rooms that you can go into to feed your baby.
so although it's a beautiful thing, i think that it should be done more discretely.
i don't like having to explain to my child or her cousins when we are out why that lady is 'doing that'..
guess I'll probably get a few thumbs down.. but i do believe that there is a time and a place.
and they make bottles so like the breast ,that in my own opinion, there isn't much of an excuse for not pumping some breast milk out for when you are in a public setting.

Of course! Baby has to eat ya know.
And I laugh when I hear people say Moms need to do it discreetly. I've seen a lot of friends and women breastfeed and none of them have ever stripped down naked to do it. Mine was such a fussy eater, that I usually did go somewhere else though b/c I had to work so much get him to latch well.
And hey, to another poster...just b/c it's a bottle doesn't mean it's formula.

Perfectly. Breastfeeding is the only legal way a woman can flash her boobs. Besides... the kid was hungry! Mamas need to get out once in a while. Nursing mom's boobs are their prison. They've gotta get out knowing that sometime while they're out in public their baby's got to eat.

yes...but was her breast covered? I dont seea a problem if it was covered. I've seen many a women at malls and wherever breast feed but cover up with a blanket or spit rag. If her breast was out in the open for everyone to see I can see where you may have a problem with it.
