I am sure the Heian Shrine is one of 17 ancient shrines in Kyoto, Japan included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites, as its picture appears on UNESCO's website ( http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/688/ ). The site also has a link listing all the 17 specific sites ( http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/688/multiple=1&unique_number=814 ) but I can't find Heian Shrine on it. Can anyone help me identify which one is it? Thanks.

I think Heian Jingu shrine is NOT the UNESCO World Heritage yet.

But as you say, the picture of this site
http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/688/
IS Heian shrine.

That is weird.

I checked some sites and found two sites that showed very similar pictures. The only shrine that anything like the Heian shrine (which I assume is the shortened version of "Heian Jingu) was the Ninna-ji Shrine which is on the list.

Here is a picture of the Ninna-ji:

Here is a picture of Heian Jingu:

Here is the site by Kyoto City that has all 17 of the world herigtage sites in Pictures.

Hope that helps.

There are not any excursions in step with se, yet once you experience like stressing your self out, then take the bullet practice there, bypass to the Golden Pavillion, some different temples and shrines, then take the practice returned. Kyoto's not likely a daytrip from Tokyo. it truly is a daytrip from Osaka. that's too stable for a daytrip although. in fact, in case you do confirm to choose for an afternoon from Tokyo, you may finally end up reducing your losses and staying there a nighttime so which you will discover greater till now heading returned to Tokyo. That is going for Nara too. an afternoon out from Tokyo might in all possibility entail staying in Tokyo. you need to spend an afternoon at Odaiba. of direction there is Disneyland and Disney Sea too. they don't look to be too some distance from Tokyo. truthfully daytrip cloth.
