You probably don't have the ethernet card driver installed. So RIGHT CLICK on My Computer and pick PROPERTIES. Pick the HARDWARE tab and click on DEVICE MANAGER. If you see your network adapter with a yellow flag, then you have to UPDATE the driver. Once you get that cleared up, your broadband provider disk will probably work OK. HEY, that driver is probably ON the broadband provider disk.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

All the means is that Talktalk is not recognized by Microsoft. If your Broadband provider is local, I would suggest that you give them a call. Windows XP should let you install the program even though they don't recognize it. Your ISP will help you install their program.

im not 100 % shure but it could be that your usb port is not fast enough to read the input from your connection phone line. Most internet providres are 2.2mbs and with some of the older laptops you only get 1.8mbs ports therefore not being able to read the internet input. Or if u have a more recent laptop or computer try searching for different usb ports. Our computer has four two 1.8mbs and two 2.2mbs our internet only works in the 2.2mbs port.

I hope this helps u out if not call the helpline for talktalk they should be able to give u some possibly better advise.

Check connections at both modem and network card, check if you need to install new drivers for your network card, power down the modem, leave it off for 30 seconds to 1 minute for the memory to clear, turn it back on, try to connect again.
If that doesn't work, contact your provider's helpdesk. They can ping your modem and see if it's actually receiving a signal or not and tell you what to do from there.

Windows can't see your ISP's DSL / Cable modem, because your motherboard and / or network interface card (NIC) drivers are missing.

Install the necessary drivers first, then, connect to the web.
