whatever needs to be done has to be done. I'll be a wife in a few months and even though I would LOVE to stay home with our future kids I know I probably won't be able to and I accept that.

Yes. Women should be allowed to make their contribution to the family and the household. There is nothing wrong with wives working and it enables them to hold the family together if the husband dies and they have to look after the family alone. Some women struggle when they are widowed or divorced because they are not qualified for any job, have been away from the market for so long they fail to fit into any job and do not know how to handle their finances since the husband dealt with all that. Think of it as security for the future as well as self-actualization for her.

No! women should be queens of the household and should only have to things like lunch with friends, shopping, beauty salons, gifts from the hubby everyday and more shopping. Family would survive fine if hubby got a second job ;-)
No really I think if hubby not earining enough then yes.

Good question. I think each situation is different. I'm a stay at home mum who would love to go out to work but my hubby has asked that I stay with the kids till they start school. He says that you shouldn't have kids to put them on some1 else! However he earns a very good wage so we are quite lucky. Some mums have no choice but to return to work asap for financial reasons. There is no right or wrong on this subject.

Not necessarily I don't work and I have 3 kids, my hubby works and provides for the family, it's a struggle, and we do have to watch our money, we but we cope!
We BOTH decided when we had the kids, that I'll stay at home and look after them (I don't have kids for somebody else to bring them up!)
I will return to part time work when my youngest is at school age! (hopefully a teaching assistant!) Then I'll get the holidays and weekends off with the kids!

I would of thought that women have always wanted to work but because of being thought of as the weaker sex and needed to be protected this has led to the little women at home. But now this assumption of women has changed, women can do as they like, some choose to stay at home where others decide on a career. The difference now is the choice.

I don't think it is bad. It depends on how the wife feels about it. Does she want to work...do you have children...do you need the extra money?
If the wife doesn't want to work & would rather keep the house, so to speak, then that's what she should do, if you can afford it.
Many women want to have a career. If that is the case, the man should not stand in her way.

A big YES!!!!! Everyone needs to be independent. Nowadays we are all equal, no heads(men) or (necks). It right that you asked the question instead of just harassing your wife to quit(i.e. if you have any) her job, because if you really value your wife you will listen to her opinions
