This is me! It's storming outside at 5:00 In the morning and I have nothing else better to do than write about ********. This Is my first blog and god dammit you guys better respond! So, This topic I will write about, I've seen many Blogs with the exact title. "Musical Geniuses", is this forespoken topic. Now, Every Blog I have seen with this topic has written about musicians that everyone in the ******' world has heard of. (Ex.) Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and so on. Now don't get me wrong everyone on this list is a musical genius and deserves every bit of respect that they receive. However my concern is the musical geniuses behind the scenes that had the same effect on classic rock music. These musicians aren't acknowledge and deserve the same ammount of respect as the before mentioned musicians. So here is my list of top five most underrated musical geniuses of all-time!

5.) Dave Mason (Traffic) - Guitar/Vocal, Shadowed by front man Steve Winwood, There was not one thing Mason couldn't do,Great Musician lost with the time.

4.) Ray Manzareck (The Doors) - Keyboard/Bass, Shadowed by the great Jim Morrison, The founder of The Doors, Wrote Most of The Doors hits.

3.) Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) - Guitar, Shadowed by front man Ozzy Osbourne, Invented the heavy metal guitar sound, The brains behind Black sabbath.

2.) John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) - Bass/Keyboard, Shadowed by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Heart and soul of the band, Created the musical mind journey, The "Puzzle Piece" of Led Zeppelin.

1.) Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) - Guitar/Vocal, Shadowed by modern Pink Floyd, Founder of Pink Floyd, Although only with the group for a short period of time Barrett founded the 60's psychodelic sound, Lyrical Genius, Known As the forgotten Legacy, Founded the name "The Pink Floyd Sound".

* Discussion is always great! This is my opinion, although well thought- out, This could be wrong, (not likely), but I would love for you to publish your opinion on top five most underrated musicians of all-time. please include description and challenge me if I'm wrong!
Sincerely, Kerans

Some people wouldn't recognise music if a whole symphony orchestra fell into their lap from a great height.

Look, I'm not criticising you for your choices, but music isn't something which was just invented since 1960.

Songs have words/lyrics, so not every piece of music is a song.

Oh, and just in case I forget - music isn't "yours" unless you've actually written it!

Syd Barrett was wonderful (Free games for May, See Emily Play!!!!!!!!!) and his solo stuff are pretty decent and we basically have to credit him for creating Pink Floyd for what it is. Even after he left his group the whole impact of his presence inspired some of pink floyd's greatest songs (Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Brain Damage).
May he rest in peace.

funny dave groll,(foo fighters) is a bloody unreal musician and he went un-noticed behind kurt cobain (nivana) for like 10 or more yrs!
cobain used to tell him he was a (poo) musician and used to sack him on a daily basis and tell him that he couldnt drum for sh!t..and that he would amount to nothing.
he always appoligised but i guess kurt was soooo wrong!
dave got his recognition!! lol :)
