It's not bad at all, keep going for as long as it works for you guys (I did it until 13 months and only stopped 'cos he really wasn't interested in it anymore). I had the same problem though first thing in the morning it is soooo painful. I would suggest that you either express or whilst in the shower (sounds a bid dodgy but a Midwife told me this...all girls together and all that. lol) just get rid of some that should mean that your body still makes the milk but takes the top off as your son would if he were with you. Keep it up though...your going good.

If you are in alot of pain then that can mean that something is seriosly wrong such as an infection or blocked duct. I would consult your doctor to see whats going on and he or she will know whats best for you when relieving your ailments. Here are a couple websites that might help you.

You should express every two hours, like if you were feeding your son, both to avoid pain and to keep the milk production.

Breast feeding after one is fine.
You need to expel the milk from your breasts.
Milk yourself down and save it.
Some mothers produce too much milk.
The La Lache Society collects it for women who don't produce enough. Check here.

You need to express your milk when they get like that. Every weekend I have to do that because my daughter sleeps 10-11 hours. I get up before her express my milk then wait for her to wake up and feed her.
