Yes you can but if you live in the U.K. you have to update your playstation 3 first . the first update should contain an emulator allowing you to.

It is supposed to be able to play PS2 games but there have been certain PS2 games that haven't worked on the PS3.

Yes, but when you use a ps3 on a normal tv all of the ps2 games graphics are bad (not good); but when you use a ps3 game the graphics are ok. I know that because a play final fantasy xii for ps2 the graphics were bad, but when i used need for speed carbon the graphics were ok.

I would imagine that PS3 is backwards-compatible. You could play PS1 games on PS2 when it came out and they want you to buy PS3, some wouldn't if they had to scrap their old PS2 games.

If you PS3 was bough in EU or Aus you need to check the games that are compatible in this web page http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/bcGames.htm?locale=en_GB
You need to download the 1.6 system version to be able to play the games

yes you can. But some people have reported that some games freeze or just don't work on it. But Most of the games work perfectly.

yup, you can play most of them on a ps3 but i think ome dont work. you cant play ps1 game i dont think though
