Yes, it can kill you, people in my state have died from this. The gas is not toxic, but it can expel all of the oxygen from your lungs and make you pass out and not necessarily start breathing again, as the helium is stuck in there. It is rare, but deaths have occurred.

Helium itself is not dangerous but depriving yourself of oxygen is. Sucking the helium out of a balloon can be dangerous but not always.

If you did it a lot yes - Peter Gabriel did it a lot when he was lead singer with Genesis in the early days and he reckoned it roughened his voice. However, a little once in a while shouldnt hurt.

helium is a noble gas and not very reactive, im pretty sure if you use it resposibily you will be safe

it is if u do it too much because u can suffocate coz of lack of oxygen, other wise, if ur drunk or just mucking around its fine. just not too much.

i dont think so. the gas is definitely not poisonous.the only problem could be that of suffocation.

yaaa..... anything but oxygen is bad.

It would cause suffocation, like carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, lead.....etc
