my drive is Lite-on Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-833S. I using window xpsp2 on acer 4061 laptop. My drive is only reading the pre-recorded cds, and sometimes some recorded cds but none of the dvds. I am able to burn the stuff on cds and dvds but cannot read any one of them using my drive. i used nero and windows to burn disc.

can anyone please help me solve this problem, any software or driver i need to install?thank you very much in advance.

my system has no virus and i didnt get a reply from liteon after two weeks also. about the drivers i didnt get any drivers with this. i updated my firmware to vs04 the latest i know. but still its working like that.please help

It sounds like you could use a driver update. Check to see if there are new drivers for your device at liteon's website. Also, the suggestion for a firmware upgrade is also a good start. Either of these things may be the problem. If there are no updates, try reinstalling the drivers for the device.

You need the Liteon firmware upgrade.

Talk to the manufacturer or anything related, you never know you may have contacted a viruses grow and fill part of the memory interupting it.
Also check with
Microsoft. com

Try downloading a dvd decorder and xvid and divx codecs.
