Try looking at http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/tramadol.htm It gives a pretty good description of adverse effects, drug interactions, etc.

From a personal viewpoint, I take tramadol as part of a combination to manage my complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). I have a few problems with side effects- mainly sedation, nausea, and vertigo but occasionally find that it causes orthostatic/postural hypotension as well, sometimes bad enough that I faint.

Tramadol is a fairly powerful pain killer, it's on opioid like Codine or Morphine.

I've added some links below that give side effects.

Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. Tramadol also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain.

Before taking rx Tramadol, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease; liver disease; or a history of alcohol or drug dependence.

It depends on what kind of pain you have. It is not in the codeine family. Go to drugs.com lookit up. Go search the web. It will tell you everything you need to know. Tramadol is non-narcotic
