Apart from crunches and the usual excercises(that haven't really been working for me), how should I regulate my food intake so I can get a flatter stomach? What should I not eat?

Stop eating starches or carbohydrates. The fat layer on our belly is called the Omentum, it fills up with starches.

These are all pastas, rice, potatoes, breads, sugars (no sugar added sugars can substitute occasionally).

Sodas are full of sugar one forth to one third of a cup per can.

Stop all sweet things and starches for a couple of weeks and watch your stomach go down.

Walking a couple of miles each evening will help a lot also.

Good Luck. The interesting thing is that when you stop eating starches you will automatically stop eating most butter.
Which will eliminate a lot of calories.

The last place your body gets rid of fat is the stomach. Crunches and situps alone will do nothing. Toning is basically a myth. You need to watch your diet and do an entire body exercise program. Weight lifting, cardio, all of this is great, but it's ultimately about what you eat

Basically, avoid fatty foods, only eat good carbs, and lean towards a lot of protein. In the meantime, keep a good workout schedule, including aerobic exercises, "light" weight-lifting, and crunches. And remember, NO PAIN, NO GAIN!

Your body decides where to put fat and from where to remove it. It’s a system that is determined mostly by your genetics, but also based on a few clever strategies:

1. Your body stores fat in your midsection (your abdomen, hips or buttocks) because it takes less energy to carry it around. Remember, fat storage is a survival strategy for your body!
2. From an anthropological point of view, the placement of body fat also has some implications for mate selection. This is especially true in women cases, where fat is stored in locations like the hips and breasts to create a more attractive physical body in order to attract a potential mate.
3. Your body stores fat wherever you have fat cells.

There is no food, no exercise, and no herb that will cause your body to remove fat from only one place. If you want to reduce body fat, you need to start consuming fewer calories than you body needs on a daily basis. In time, your body will start converting fat into usable energy, and fat stores will begin to vanish.
