Our calendar is based upon the year Jesus was born. The year 2007 AD means that 2007 years ago, Jesus was born. BC means Before Christ and AD means year of our Lord.
Unfortunately we do not know the exact year that Jesus was born. Our calendar is off 30 to 40 years either before or after. We also do not know which date He was born on. December 25 was chosen because it was the pagan feast of lights and since Christ is the light of the world which overcomes all darkness, it was chosen as the day even though Jesus was probably born during the laming season which would be at another time.

Historically speaking, Jesus was born approximately 2000 years ago. It is a common misconception that he was born on december 25th. He was in fact born around march- april. Why is christmas celebrated then as Jesus' birthday? This is because during Jesus' time, there was a big feast that was celebrated during the winter. Jesus is an important figure and thus during time, people, elders of the church wanted for us to remember Jesus' birth by a significant event. That is the celebration of this feast.

So, in actual reality, Jesus was born some 2000 years ago during march- april.

Spiritually speaking, He was born in each of us the first time we accepted Him in our heart. That truly is a glorious day. :)

God bless you :)

Read the following article:

Was Jesus born on Dec. 25?
Neither the date 25th Dec. nor any other date on Jesus' birth is mentioned in the Bible. It was not until the year 530 C.E. that a monk, Dionysus Exigus, fixed the date of Jesus' birth on Dec. 25th. . "He wrongly dated the birth of Christ according to the Roman system (i.e., 754 years after the founding of Rome) as Dec. 25, 753". (Encyclopedia Britannica, 1998 ed.) This date was chosen in keeping with the holidays already indoctrinated into pagans beliefs.

Roman pagans celebrated Dec. 25th as the birth of their 'god' of light, Mithra.
"In the 2nd century A..D., it (Mithraism) was more general in the Roman Empire than Christianity, to which it bore many similarities" (The Concise Columbia Encyclopedia, 1995 ed.)
Other pagan 'gods' born on Dec. 25th are: Hercules the son of Zeus (Greeks); Bacchus, 'god' of wine (Romans); Adonis, 'god' of Greeks, and 'god' Freyr of Greek-Roman pagans.

BC means Before Christ, and AD means anno domini, or the year of our lord. So one can assume 1 BC is 1 year before Christ's birth. 1 AD could be considered the first year of our lord, meaning 1 AD was Jesus' 1st birthday. So Jesus was born in 0 in my opinion. Lol.

4 BC is usually conisdered the year because when the calendar was set up based on the year Jesus was born, it was later determined that they had miscalculated by 4 years.
