I remember learning when I was a kid that Paul originally went around persecuting christians until one day God struck him down from his horse, gave him and a hard time about it and convinced him to spread his word.

Why hasn't he done that lately with modern day atheists?

How many christians would have been saved if he'd done it to Stalin?

Or what about the currupt popes from the dark ages?

if there was such a thing as God, before he went around striking ordinary people down for not believing in him, he might want to put an end to war (especially those based on religion), disease, famine etc. Then he might want to strike down all those priests who molest young innocent children. Then he might want to get started on all those murders and the like sitting in jail praying on their bibles.
I think there are far worse people in the world than us old atheists, one of them would be those so-called christians who are anything but, spreading hate and ignorance around the world.
Oh, and to Steve B - You do know that the German race believe in a Christian God don't you? just wondering as you mentioned that non-believers never bring up the issue of WWII - i'll bring it up now, if there was a god, would he let 6 and a half million innocent people perish in concentration camps, or did they deserve it because they were jewish? that's very loving and kind of you if that's the case. I wish there were more Christians like you if so, ignorant people.
You do know that the bible was written to help control the masses, right?

Imagine how many people would have been saved if the Christians didn't try to force their religion on everyone - current estimates 34 million. Think of how any people would have been saved if Hitler was knocked down.

You shouldn't make Christianity out to be an innocent religion, when it is responsible for more deaths than any other.

Because there is no God. Also, in your question what you basically said was that God tortured Paul until he agreed to spread Christianity. Geez, why does that sound like many Christians I know?

Because there probably is no God at all. Paul? history shows he existed and wrote them letters and persecuted christians, but only he can tell the story of his conversion. people make up things remember? they made up religions why not make up something to support one

He, G_D, YHWH still does still do such acts. For I use to walk as an atheist for 30 yrs and stood on the Shroud of Turin as my foundation to preach against religion.

Well at 30 He choose to say " watch Me make a fool of this non believer ". He gave me exactly what I asked.....let me TOUCH, let me FEEL, let me SEE. He even gave me a witness that I knew could not lie on one of them just so I couldn't say " I must be losing my mind " cause now I had a witness.

I now am cleaning my clothes to wear His white robe. And am doing MUCH research on every bit of it all to speak the TRUE WORD that He wishes to be spoken.

For HIS word is not spoken today....but man's version. I am not the only one like this, for I have found 3 others just like me in the past few months that have came to the same path by the same means with the same message. He had a Christian tell me that we are what the OT calls " His personal prophets " cause we were told His real name, YHWH.

From an ex atheists mouth.....I can tell you....He still pulls the old Paul routine.

Being "stuck down" kind of went out of fashion. And besides we ( Christians ) and others of faith need nay sayers whose words re-enforce our beliefs. The more we are "beat up" the stronger we get.

And, often times I hear these same questions, yet few non-believers bring up the subject of the second world war. Why?
Because a nation of Christians rose up and defeated two of the most terrible powers the earth has ever known.

Paul was very useful to God. Most Athiests aren't useful.

Yes , when you were a kid, you were impressionable and learnt a whole bunch of fairy tales.

You and the people in your lives control your destiny.

Do you wish people who do not believe the same as you come to harm? That is just evil!

God is constantly speaking to people, but in our age we find other reasons for the occurances. If Paul had lived in our time he might have blamed it on the weather and kept going on with his hating of christains.
