I live in an area where teen pregnancy is high. It's a neighborhood with mid income to high. It's I see teen and younger girls running around in skirts and shorts that are higher than their mid thigh. Sometimes it's short enough to be cheerleader briefs or something. A lot of times the midriff is exposed. Why do parents and families allow this? Am I the only one who thinks it's inappropriate?

I agree. I don't think young teen girls and younger should wear something that short. Shorts are alright but I believe they should be mid thigh. Young girls and teens who dress like that are asking for negative attention that they will not be able to handle and could affect them for a lifetime.
Responsible parents would not allow it.

In an area where teen pregnancy is high, there is probably no parent to tell them they cannot wear it. I agree with you. I had a friend who lived in a bad neighborhood (projects) & her mom didn't care what she wore, she was on drugs though. She would come over to our house in a bathing suit bikini top and little ity bitty shorts in the winter. I remembered she had to stay with us while her mom was in the hospital having a baby, she stayed for close to a year, and all she had were tiny short shorts, skirts, revealing tank tops, tube tops etc.. We bought her a whole new wardrobe because of it. In schools, you can wear skirt/dress/shorts that are as short as where your fingertips meet at your legs, which can be high above the knee.

i also think its inappropriate...when me and my friends are going back to the chalet it was like 12+plus am..we saw a girl was like 17-19 she wore a skirt was very short i can see her thigh and abit of her underwear then we saw an old man about his mid 40-50 driving a lexus car and went to pick her up....now a days teenagers are very rude and dont listen to thier parents and some really deserve a slap...some parents dont care may be is becus they just dont care or they are tired of saying it..u should see the japanese high school girls in japan thier skirt is damn ultra short i know becus i lived there before..i wont wear a skirt that is very short at least a few cm above my knees its oki

Ya I have noticed that stuff too. I think that if you aren't old enough to drive you shouldn't be old enough to wear short skirts, thongs, and stuff like that... It seems every year it is getting worse... and I am young too. (20) When I was 12, 13, 14, NO girls where I was from wore stuff like this. It is wrong and the parents should do something about it.

I feel the same way. When did hot pants and skirts only up to there became outerwear? It's really a pity seeing young girls dressed like street walkers. Parents should teach their kids how to dress more appropriately.

I think it reflects badly on people who wear micro-mini's and then hang around, leaning on walls outside the train station where everyone can see them.
I don't know how those people can take it! I feel sooo self conscious if I'm travelling alone (on a bus even) and I'm wearing like a shirt that I keep having to pull down a little.
Some people just have no shame!

No, I feel it's disgusting. But, I have noticed with young girls I know, the more I tell them how awlful it is, the shorter the dress gets. I don't know how to stop this phenomenom. On the other hand, I am not sure that alone contributes to rises in teen pregnancys. I think we should push sex education at ALL schools, catholic included.

Yes I think its inappropriate to dress in such a manner,however they are just copying the girls in the videos of there favourite artist,where girls are parading around in this manner. It is such a shame,parents have a hard time these days keeping control as the media has the power over these kids.

It's evidently the style around there. And most everywhere these days. Clothes and how one dresses has nothing to do with getting pregnant. Taking ones clothes OFF and having intercourse (not sex) is the only way anyone in the world is gonna get pregnant when a boy and girl/man and woman are together. sex is anything but intercourse and intercourse is something entirely different if you KNOW the difference...everyone, look it up if you have any doubts..

yes thats right if they are not yet ready to look for a living themselves then they should not be wearing those short skirts. especially that teenagers are starting to get curios about the opposit sex. isn't it that wearing things like those generally insinuates something else.
