and it so happened that you are being disappointed, frustrated and had this low morale because of different frustrating situations happening at work, how would you motivate your employees to work effectively?

Have everyone meet last hour of work and toss in ideas as to how to solve the frustrations. listen to all ideas do not get into an argument session as to how X won't work.

If you are the director of the place give everyone a day off with pay if you can afford it. Tell them hell with it, take a day off with pay see you all tomorrow, fresh start, bright and early.

Plus yeah what's the dynamics of the situation? Each situation is unique.

Read some good leadership books

The Way of Kings
A book of five rings
The art of war
Leadership secrets of Atilla the Hun.
Many others. Go to any good discount book store.

Expect the best from everyone. give 110% yourself. Be and set the example. Don't ask anyone to do anything that you personally would not do in a pinch, if necessary. This includes things like making your own coffee.

But don't try to be "Friends" with your subordinates. Don't lord it over them, but lead. Don't take people into your confidence, nor talk about how "Charlie over in X Division, is such a jerk." No, they'll see you as a gossip.

Do not lay blame. Solve problems. Try to see everyone's side of it.

If you have bullies in the workplace or sexual harrassers fire them, as soon as possible, guided by your personell people, they kill morale.

Be calm above all do not let things get to you, do not yell at your people. Speak in a clear even voice. Make it easy for them to come to you with problems, or you will get blindsided every time.

Think and do long term over short term goals.

Put people together that work well together, the hard thing is finding the right person for the job.

do not let your people thing that one little or big mistake will lead to a firing, but be clear that people should think, and use their head at all times, especially when they are doing something new, or when ther old way of doing things is not working out any more, it is time for a new plan.

Set daily goals, and markers for achieving them. Do not be lavish in praise unless the job was exceptional.

Watch out for office politics and romances those kill morale also.

Remember: Things are NEVER as bad as, nor as good as they are first reported to be.

Good luck. Wish I knew more about your specifics.

First maybe you can find/do some stress relievers for your office. If you can :have your walls painted a soothing color,OR find a painting/picture that relaxes you,OR background music to be heard, but doesn't interrupt answering the phone ect.=that might even be nice for the employees too.But nothing that would put them to sleep. Also there are stress balls that you can squeeze as needed. To motivate your employees=Have a suggestion box(and read the suggestion)that will help the shy workers that may have great ideas, but too shy to say in front of people. But weekly think sections could help. Can you set goals,and/or do a monthly prize? For the prize, maybe a local restaurant can donate dinner for two,or something.
