Scotland is a country in it's own right and as such can't be a capital, It's similar to Brazil being the capital of South America or Wyoming being the capital of the US.
The United Kingdom is made up of the four countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each country has it's own capital which in the case of Scotland is Edinburgh. The other capitals are London, England; Cardiff, Wales and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The capital city of the UK as a whole is London which gives it the interesting distinction of being the capital of both England and the UK.

Yes, like Wisconsin is the capital of the USA. Well, at least it starts with the same letter. Scotland was until just over 400 years ago an independent kingdom. The King of Scotland was asked to be the King of England too, since Queen Elizabeth the First had no heirs. So he moved south to London, the capital of England and reigned over both countries from there. Thus the name, the "United Kingdom" eventually came to be used.

No, Scotland is a country which is part of the UK (United Kingdom). The Scots would agree with you, however it's not true.
London is the capital of England and Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland.
