For some reason people think that Islam was found During mohammed's (PBUH) time period. where did people get that info from.
Read this :
the arabic word islam literally menas "surrender" or "submission". Islam, as a faith, means total and sincere surrender to God so that one can live in peace and tranquility.
The name Islam ia universal in meaning. Islam is not named after a tribe of people or an individual, as Judaism is namedafter the tribe of Judah, Christianity after Christ, and Buddhism after Buddha. Islam is not a name chosen by human beings; it was divinely communicated from God. Islam is global faith, not of the east or west.
It was Not Muhammad(pbuh) but adam(pbuh) who first brought Islam to Humanity. Then each prophet and Messenger came to exhort the people to a clear understanding of God's commandments. They offeredd teachings to relevant to that time, untill God chose the final prophet, Muhammad(pbuh), to come with the Last Testament referred to as the Qur'an.

here is more Introduction:
Islam began with the Creation of the Heavens and our earth. When universal order was begotten, Islam began.
We know this because we use the following criteria:
Allah The Most High teaches us primarily in His Scriptures (prophets), by His Signs, His Messengers and Inspiration (Divine Guidance).
We learn about what Islam is by reading, reflecting and studying His Messages to us in the form of Scriptures which are defined by Him as the Torah (Old Testament), the Book of Abraham (Sahuf), the Psalms of David (Psalms), the New Testament (Bible) and the Final Revelation The Holy Qur'an. Those are the only official Scriptures of Allah The Most High. is the "combination" of these sources that we get our knowledge, wisdom and overstandings of Truth vs. falsehood.
When we study Scriptures we find that Allah uses clear language to tell mankind that after He created the Universe(s) He created humans who are born in a state of Islam

The first race of mankind were Adamites who were Muslim by birth according to the Holy Qur'an. The region of this primal hue'man's birth and reign was somewhere between the two rivers (Tigress & Euphrates or Nile) constituting the theory of the Asiatic-Afri'man.
This early hue'man had descendants upon descendants all the way down to Abraham, the Muslim from Asia, who migrated into Northern Africa and established a legacy of Islam again there. It was with Abraham that the concept of Islam (monotheism) became reinstituted worldwide among various nations.
