Is it because many of them are Hindus? Or do people just think that these are somehow bad answers? I don't get it. I thought many of them were fine answers.

THUMBS UP and THUMBS DOWN-

Yes your observation is very correct. It is because Sri Sri Ravishanker is a Hindu, so many thumbs down have been given. This question is exceptional one and it is a different case.

BUT the Thumbs up and down is due to nasty politics in YA.

Really speaking I do not consider it as a credit or discredit to the answers. Though Yahoo! Answers is a very good forum still they have to make many change. Fortunately for Thums down no penalty points like bonus points for Thums up.

I personally feel that this is done mainly by miscreants, or for point gaming by the Asker himself. I can cite lot of examples. -

One of the top persons within top 10 in the ladder board is given nearly 50 thumbs up for each of his answers regularly and the asker get one point for each such thumbs up. By this he is on top, while his answers in several cases are not that much good and there are other good and deserving answers.

Another thing is People also give thumbs down or give negative votes just to avoid the deserving persons not getting best answer points regularly.

In YA there are lot of POINT GAMING GROUPS and they are responsible for this-

there you pass H! they arrive from humans like Worstans who simply don't have any brain! lol so pay no concentration. I individually desire yahoo might do away with thumbs down and most effective have thumbs up! It might be a a lot more constructive location. Then humans might must have a well verbal arguement as to why they do not like ones reply. It might deliver approximately larger debate. In the interim, that question used to be very lovely, I checked out each and every unmarried location that humans have been from, and it made it on extra of a private degree. Never brain H, approximately the thumbs!

Well, one of the Y!A officials asked the question. It had tons of answers, and for one of the answers, 106 people rated it. I haven't seen an answer with that many ratings (one way or another) before.

I guess it's competition? Showing off for the official?

It may be related to respondents being Hindu, or it could just be because an official is asking about prayer and that offends some of the atheists? I have no idea. It is pretty wild, though!

I think that the reason so many people had thumbs down is because of the sad state of affairs in the world. Religion is just not a good topic to bring up. It is very unfortunate. In the US, it is basically a sin (pardon the pun) to mention religion in any social setting. The less dialogue there is about religions, the further they grow apart. And we know where that road leads.

I believe that people were giving answers thumbs down in order to help get the best answer the highest thumbs up. It was not because they were bad answers, it was because they were not good enough to be chosen. I guess some people like contributing to ratings on these answers.

I think it is related to the number of answers, there were many long answers, and they were in the 20,000's or more for one of the guys. They are probably the same person asking these. I looked for another official on there, there is alot
its confusing to me sorry
