I have to meet a guy for coffee today, so im not sure whether he wants to just friends or not. Although i have a good idea that he wants something more, as there is quite an age gap and also there are things hes done in the past that i am not very happy with. how do i let him down with a msg, that wont sound rude or make it sound like i genuinely cant meet him....??

Try something like:
"It was lovely meeting today it was a shame after all our long talks that in person there was no real spark. I am sure you sensed it too so don't worry about trying to let me down easy. Good luck in the future I hope you find the right woman for you soon. I wish you much love and happiness."
After sending that don't respond to anything he sends and don't contact him again. It's a real double message when someone dumps you and says they want to stay in touch it says, "you're not good enough for right now but maybe later if I can't find anyone special ...." Not a nice message at all.

Say something along these lines if he asks you out again:
EASIEST WAY:
I appreciate the chat and coffee the other day. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go out again since I'm talking with my ex about reconciling our relationship and want nothing to stand in the way of it.
or
HONEST WAY:
I appreciate the company over coffee. To be honest with you, I just don't feel a connection with you and feel it would be a waste of our times to have another date. I hope all the best for you.

oh why beat around the bush... jus be honest and tell him.. its not like u owe him anythin n im sure he'll appreciate the honesty if u just told him u werent into him rather than be all polite and stuff.. thats jus gonna make him thnik he stands a chance and will try again ! so jus be upfront and tell him in a nice way " im glad i tried this but im just not up for a relationship liek this......and lf he reacts its his provblem ! ur not bound to make evetry guy that comes along make feel better !!!

the best way to not be rude about it, especially if he wants something more, is in person bcuz if its a message then it makes u seem weak and like your scared to do it in person, and will also get him confused and not kno if you were serious or not
see him in person, keep seeing him, and just make sure with body language that u dont want anything more than to be friends
keep seeing him but dont let him do anything with you and eventually he will give up.
if he doesnt eventually give up then give him a chance bcuz that means that he REALLY loves you a lot

It sounds like you know what to do! Don't lie and make up an fake excuse, tell him on the phone or in txt that you're not interested in meeting him for coffee cause you are not interested in him, period.
