You should give Kristin Linklater's technique a try. She has a book called "Freeing the Natural Voice." She has a pretty detailed website, as well.

you project by pushing air from your diaphragm. that will make you louder. to breathe from your diaphragm, try not to move your shoulders much when you inhale - when you inhale, you should see your stomach get bigger. then push from your stomach when you talk to make your voice louder.
