I am currently running Windows Media Center, on a rather high end PC. I am thinking of upgrading to Vista Ultimate. My pc can run it. I am perfectly happy with MCE, but I'm a pc guy, so of course I gotta have the new Vista everyone's talkin about...hehe;-)

Well, you know with like the other OS's, you have the option, when you are installing, to "upgrade"? I don't want to reformat it, I just want to have all the features of Vista, but not have to reinstall all my programs, and re-do everything. Does Vista Ultimate have this option?

Thanks

Yes you can upgrade your media edition XP to Vista Ultimate, it offers that facility for Home Premium, Business & Ultimate only. So you will be fine. That way if you dont like vista you can install and revert back to your XP Media edition.

You can do an update install within Windows Media Center Edition from Vista Ultimate. The other option is to go with a clean install, copy all your stuff to DVD or hard-drive, and install Vista. You can purchase the upgrade version and save quite a bit over a full version. Here's a link how to do a clean install from an upgrade version of Vista.
I'm running Vista Home Premium with a P4 3.0 ghz, 1 gig of ram, and a geforce7600gs and its generally pretty good, only slows down occasionally, but getting a new usb flash drive next week and hoping ReadyBoost will help with my lack of more memory. Good Luck.
