Why do the pages from the bible feel so nice?

It seems as if all bible's are made of the same type of paper that feels really smooth.

For one thing, the bible is very long. The NIV translation contains 726,109 words, of which 14, 462 are unique.

To fit these words into a single book requires very thin paper, but paper that is acid free and durable enough to last for tens of years.

The finest contructed bible can be read about here:

First .... it's bibles, no apostrophe. An apostrophe indicates a missing letter or ownership. In this case, the word is a simple plural, requiring no apostrophe.

Anyway, there are many different papers used in Bibles. Perhaps you haven't used any bibles with other sorts of paper. If, perchance, you come upon one which is paper-bound, rather than leather or simulated leather, you'll find the sort of paper which is used in trade-journals. If you come across a Bible in a large, or family style edition, you'll have a heavier paper than either of these. The paper used in most editions of the Bible is a very thin paper, but sufficiently opaque to provide some protection from seeing too clearly the print on the other side of the page. The reason for this thin paper is to create a book with as many pages as the Bible has, but still be reasonably easy to carry. This is made a bit more difficult by recognizing that some of those who have a Bible actually use it relatively frequently, and the paper has to be sufficiently strong to last some years.

If you actually look at a number of Bibles, you'll find that there are a great number of types of paper used. Perhaps your sensation is merely a psychological representation of the value you place on the words in this book rather than a tactile sensing of the type of paper used.

I tried to search for any answer that is plausible to your question, but could not find anything that would tell why the paper is so thin and feels so smooth, maybe its in the eye of the beholder.. at leasts thats my opinion.

Try Onion skin paper ...... 30-50 gsm paper.

As the gsm is lesser, it is alot lighter, hence a good paper to thick and yet easily carry about books.

To have a higher appreciation for the contents, I believe. And because it is sacred. We only give the best for what belongs to God.
