Tell him that when your with your friends he'll be able to reach you when he needs to. And if your ever in a situation that your not comfortable in you could call him to come and get you. Don't keep telling him how everyone else has one because his not concern with that. You have to think like him and put out all the stuff you know he would think was a good reason to get you one. We got our daughter one at 10 because every time we needed to talk to her and she was at a friends house no one would answer their phones because they were on the Internet with the phone tied up or just don't answer their phones. Sometimes we need to know when we needed to pick her up from her friends house because we may need to or just want to go somewhere our self. This way we didn't have to stay at home waiting all day to get a call from her. She had a way to reach us when ever.

Well if you hog the telephone every night he might get the message.
Or, you could put it in terms of safety. If you are out somewhere and something bad happens, what are you going to do? Most pay phones these days are out of order or unsanitary, and a lot of areas don't even have them anymore.
However, I'm guessing that he won't get you one simply because you keep arguing with him about it. He feels that if he gives in, then you will start arguing about needing something else. So stop arguing with him, and occasionally bring up the fact that you would feel safer with a cell phone.
By the way, the "Everyone else has one" argument is the oldest in the book. Whether or not it is true he's not going to fall for it.

Why be a Follower? Be a LEADER! Why fold to Peer Pressure, and most people don't need cell phones, and there is more and more people getting in and CAUSING accidents and getting people killed.
Many people I see with Cell Phones are rude, and they don't care where they walk in stores and other places and are so tied up in yapping, they don't care if they bump into people.
Besides, people don't know how to communicate very well as it is anyway, and although there is plenty of communication devices, ..........Phones, Cell Phones, Internet, etc,.....they don't know how to talk effectively face-to-face for the most part.
We have progressed so far now technology wise, that we are regressing.
If our Government eradicated the idiots in this country, I bet about 20% of the Population would be gone, and most of them would be people that have a stupid cell phone as the highlight and big accomplishment in their pathetic little lives.
I'm with your Dad. You need a Cell Phone like you need two noses.

First of all, you can't make your parents do ANYTHING. They are the parents, and they make the decisions. If you are old enough to get a job, start saving your money and get a pre-paid phone. Then give him the option of setting it up how he would see fit (emergency numbers, text options, etc.)
If you aren't able to get a job, then honestly, don't worry about it. If all your friends have phones, you can always borrow one of theirs if you really need to. And if they won't let you because they don't have enough minutes or because their parents have control over how it's used, then that should be a signal to you that they have control over their parents as much as you have control over yours....not very much.

Your dad said no that you didn't need a cell phone and you should respect his decision. He has his reasons and you should not keep pestering him about getting one just because your friends have one. I have a 15yr old and a 13yr old and neither one of them have cell phones and they don't need one until they have their drivers licenses and a part-time job to help pay the bill. Don't be a BRAT.

why do you need a cellphone??? just cos your friends have them??? not a convincing argument...
try mentioning the safety aspect... in case of trouble, you can ring him... tell him to bar the phone so you can only ring certain numbers... or text certain numbers...
