Digestive enzymes are very safe, because they are not absorbed into the body and just pass through the GI-tract along with everything else. They are primarily used for people with pancreatic deficiency, in which case digestive enzymes are not produced/released at a sufficient level.

elixar of lacted pepsin has been used for years but is no longer available over the counter. People with digestive upsets used it and didn't see the doc to find out the real cause of the heartburn. Temporary solution at best.

digestive enzymes should be used in your diet after each meal according to label directions to aid in the breakdown of animal proteins every Brand is different so do you research before just getting any old brand they are not the same . a Table spoon of organic apple cider vinegar in clean water ( I put a dot of stevia in mine to aid in tolerating drinking it ) will aid in digestion and stop heart burn
