Hello All..
Good Morning. I was at my local out of hours doctor surgery yesterday seeing one of the doctors because I was getting alot of Palpitations in the chest and and also have been diagnosed over the last four weeks with a slightly over active tyroid gland.
He had a listen and told me I had a heart murrmer also (missing beats) He didnt really tell me if a murrmer was anything to worry about and this is why i am posting here this morning
Can anyone put my mind at rest
Many Thanks

Science of cardiology has advanced a lot in the last few years: heart murmur by itself need not cause a lot of undue worry. In earlier years at once one came to the conclusion that mitral valve has problems, but now, you can safely go for a thorough check up consulting a good heart specialist, and find reassurance in his/her opinion!

As it was explained to me when they told me the same thing years ago,It's nothing to worry about,"We will monitor the murmur as you get older"Well Im 70 years old now and they tell me that a heart problem is never gonna kill me but because of all the cigarettes that I smoked,The problems from that is now working my lungs over. Now they say after I stopped smoking in 1996 That they will keep monitoring my lungs!I think I'll kick off when Im 100 just to show them! Dont worry, I had pvc,s for many years and they stopped 15 years ago!
