I have a Sanyo VHR-H790E video recorder with a auto clock adjustment setting, set to auto. It is supposed to adjust the time every Sunday at 3am, or 6am. But every Sunday when clocks change I have to do it manually why?
Am I supposed to leave it turned on?
Or put it in standby, the instruction book doesn't give that detail.

Why not ask the question to Sanyo via their website?
They should know the answer.

The manual for my JVC brand tells me that the machine picks up it's clock setting information from PBS stations which include clock information in their signal. If the unit is connected to a signal source that does not include a PBS station, then it cannot receive the clock resetting signal. My unit will do this reset function when it is fully connected, but turned off. While the unit is "searching" for a PBS station, the display screen on the unit will flash "auto." Sure enough, when I have the unit connected such that it can get PBS stations, the clock auto - sets. When connected to a source which does not include any PBS stations, it does not reset.

Your unit probably works the same way. At least it's worth a try, so be sure it can pick up a PBS station in it's hookup, and see what happens.

I have a Sony DVD / Video and all the settings are correct on it but it will always do the change a day late for some reason. So perhaps yours will do it tomorrow. One theory i had is that this function works on an internal date clock which is a day out due to the item being manufactured on the other side of the world.
Why do clocks change every Sunday?

I think if you look in the manual you will find a reference to chosing which tv channel to update the clock from. If the VCR is not left on that channel it will not get the information for the clock time to change. Ithink it will update even if on standby, as long as the channel was selected before switching off.
