Can the US military contain a country as small as the Vatican or will the priests simply be too dangerous?

This is a hard one for me to answer because the real problem, as I see it, is not many in the military have ever been in Combat, from the 4 stars on down.
I Imagine there may be a few Vietnam Vets, but they had to have been 20 year old 2ND Lt's as everyone else is dead! The COls would be 70 years old at least!
When I went to Vietnam, we had Captains and majors who were Korean War Veterans and most of our Generals were also in WWII, almost all of the top Sgt had been in Korea and WWII!
In other words, we had a lot of experience on the battlefield, though not the type of fighting we found ourselves in!
I do think experience plays a big role, but there seems to be a tremendous lack of it in the services!
Even if 2ND Lt's., who had a survival time of about 15 seconds in a hot LZ, were 22 if they were there during the major part of the war, they would all be in their 60's now! After Tet and Hamburger Hill, people were just trying to stay alive as the fighting was about done! That's when the majority of the fragging started!
The answer is, I don't think we lack people who are brave and are great fighters. There is just to few of them as the commanders have forgotted it is the 111Bs groundpounders that do all of the essential fighting and they will not be replaced by missles, though that is what we have been spending our money on! We never use them so we just piss that money away!
Right now I am not sure what we could do as we don't have enough replacements for Iraq, we are rotating them too quickly after a tour there, and we are keeping people in the service past their contract dates.
I think if anyone wanted to start a conventional war with us we would have a hard time, expecially with 2.5 million Chinese that are in their Army!

The US can countain almost any country but the rest of the world wouldn't just stand there and watch.Eventually the US would get owned if they would invade a countrie becuase of the massive global response.
