I have been told by several Internists that drinking a beer a day JUST ONE BEER... will keep you from having kidney stones

Oh lord no...lol. Not trying to be rude, but NO! Beer is a diuretic, however, the consequences of drinking too much beer are MUCH worse than benign kidney stones. I am in nursing school and I have seen patients ravaged by alcohol use. Even those who don't drink as much as you may think that it takes to harm your body. Please, please don't drink beer for that purpose, and limit your consumption for goodness sakes. Drink lots of water...that will help.

Actually, high levels of uric acid in your body can contribute to kidney stones, and some studies have shown that alcohol lowers the rate at which your body excretes it.
Yeast is actually quite high in uric acid, but there's so little yeast in your beer that its probably not worth worrying about.

it sure does! beer is a dialect, which makes you urinate more often and potentially could help you pass kidney stones, or at least prevent them.

Nope. Kidney stones are usually caused by calcium build up, peeing alot doesn't necessarily get rid of the calcium, just he pee.
