I have osteo-arthritis in the severe degenerative stages. I've had surgery in my spine eight times, my hands twice, my knees twice. I'm on a drug control now.
Arthritis is thought to be a genetic gene control of the aging process and for now there's little help for us with it. Be careful of some things like Aleve, a friend poisoned her kidneys and ended up on dialysis. Some spend thousands on natural drugs to no affect. I'll stick with the doctors and what they know for sure.
You have to find a good doctor and stick with him/her.

Medicine Science doesn't know its' cause, hence there is no medicine in this world to treat Arthritis.
Taking pain killers life long makes life short and the final stage of this disease is the worst after few years.
Only Alternate Systems of Medicine treat it.
The best treatment for pains is the Acupuncture, pl you try with full faith.
Our recent research has enabled us to treat Arthritis with 90% success rate ; but you will have to come here.
All other claims are useless, but you can try them with our opinion.

I went and saw a naturopath a year ago who suggested I stop eating gluten/wheat products. Basically people with immune conditions sometimes have poor digestion & the bowel is permeable. So while we are waiting to finish the digestive process molecules can be released from the bowel and lodge themselves in the fluid in our joints. The immune system recognizes a foreign substance and attacks it with glee/ forgetting that the joint fluid is something good.

You have to try it for 3-6 weeks to see a difference but it really is worth it.

A pool is a great idea for helping as the other poster suggested, but I would also recommend an evaluation with a rheumatologist (a dr that treats diseases of the joints and bones) to see what other kind of suggestions that they may have.

if you have access to a swimming pool or the sea its great to just get into water and relax your whole body for sometime. in the water your weightless so there is not pressure on the joints. also a great form of exercise for you.
