Nice question!
Well, it depends on your own personality: if you have your own ways of doing things which make you enjoy, if you like discovery, if you like to walk at your own pace and pay attention to every detail and leap on some others, if you want o eat when you want and what you want then solo traveling is for you. On the other hand if you love being accompanied by others, you enjoy the safety and prearrangements, you prefer having a guide to decide where you should go, what you should see and what information you might be interested in, then no doubt you should try touring.
I think it's obvious that I am big fan of solo traveling and I believe, as Paolo Coelho said before me, if you want to see a place truly and meet its people truly you should travel alone!

Depends - if you don't have much time, or very little travel experience, tours are good. If you want to spend more time in one place and get to know the culture better, solo.

The joy of discovering out of the way places on your own makes me reply SOLO! Tours are great if you are a little afraid of going it alone or if you are challenged with directions. But if you'll research the places you are going, make a list of what you want to see then plan each day in the morning, you'll make those little 'discoveries' and all of the sudden, your adventure belongs to you and you alone!!!

Solo travel, definitely!
That way you can meet more people and you get a chance to see more of the place you are visiting.
