If employers were to stop hiring illegals...if people would quit renting to illegal aliens...if the laws that are in place would be enforced instead of ignored...if big business hands weren't all over our government...it would help to a great degree....

if we had Mexico's policy on illegals and foreign residents.....you can bet it would be different.....can't vote ,can't own land...and if your illegal in that country ...you may not be heard from again......

I think that the only way to stop illegal immigration is to put a band on the wrist or leg of everyone that comes to this Country and is not an American Citizen. These bands can be made impossible to remove and will send off an alarm or maybe electrocute the person if they try to remove it. Make these have tracking systems on them and have timers on them so that they will go off once the visa or visitation is suppose to be over. Make it painful if the timers go off because they have stayed in the Country too long. We are able to keep track of Criminals like this and illegal immigrants are criminals. So use the same system on them. Since we have such a problem with people trying to sneek into this Country we need to make drastic efforts . As far as the drug smugglers, we just need to get drug smelling dogs at all the airports, and we need to monitor all privite pilots that travel in and out of the US air space. Make sure that they all have everything recorded and they can not land in the US unless there are Drug smelling dogs available to check out everyone and every thing.

No matter how hard you try, a prosperous country will always be the choice of people who look for better opportunities or want to get away from plight (France, Britian, US, Gulf Arab countries, South Africa, etc.). Forced deportations are another aspect of the equation that is needed to look at, as appeals courts are quite long and expensive and eventually a good number get to stay in the country one way or another, human rights issues play here. Contracting Security companies at the border may also be another option to look at. Better incentives for employment at the border patrols to increase man-power.

Edit
A need to put excessive fines or even criminal charges against employers who deliberately seek out and employ illegal immigrants or have employed illegal immigrants that make up more than half their employees would also be a good deterrent. Extra criminal charges may also be placed for human rights/labour rights violations if the illegal aliens are working under horrible conditions...but unfortunately compensation would probably be minimal for the illegals because of quick deportations.

Exactly, the White House and Congress can questioned any cabinet member including the president even other Senators and Representatives but the federal government refuses to question the State and local officials concerning natural disasters to make sure that their residents are receiving shelter and food like in Hurricane Katrina. The White House and Congress are making too many bills without checking to see if the bills are working. There's no accountability http://www.voteprimous.com

you are right in that the war on drugs has been counter effective if anything... the problem with this war is the demand for the product. if the war were being waged in the homes of families there might be a chance of lowering demand. without the correct teachings every generation will turn to drugs just as the previous has.

as for illegals...there is also a demand for them as well. if there weren't undocumented farm workers the price of produce would skyrocket in order to pay each picker a living wage. if there weren't farms for illegals to feed off of, there would be no immigration demand and less to no supply.

So much wasted money in the political hands can corrupt any one as ask your self where is the money going and is there an overlooker who is keeping track of how people do there work and spend political money .This comes down to putting government money in the right hands to combat drugs and immigration issue's .The billions spent for nothing can be spent in investment creating jobs and factory's making food for the people or the world instead of trying to stop people they are better investing in people .

Probably not and I'm glad. Where I live the immigrants are the hardest working people (My toughest day in the Marines was about as hard as an average day picking grapes for a living) and they have good family values. Besides living in a city w/ a lot of immigrants means some of the best, mexican, italian, and chinese food I've ever had.

I doubt it. Its more of a maintenance issue. For drugs as well.
This is true for terrorism. Its not an issue of getting rid of it, but to reduce the impact.

We need to build the "Israeli" style fence system with electronic surveilence on our borders. We also need to hire more Border Patrol agents, as well as man the borders with National Guard troops who are authorized to detain, arrest, and fire their weapons, if necessary. We may not completely stop everyone from coming in, but it would put a huge dent in it.

Militarize the borders, simple as that. Illegals have no problem seeing a truck and running, I think they would piss their pants if they saw a tank, or some armored men with rifles.
