Is frozen shoulder the same as loss of strength or is loss of strength the same as a pinched nerve?
After reading many answers about frozen shoulder, I need to decide whether to have spine surgery, shoulder surgery, joint replacement, or hope my shoulder heals by itself

I have been to my GP, an orthopaedic surgeon, a sports doctor, 2 MRI's, EMG, PT, brain surgeon, neurologist, spine surgeon and a DC. And I am having a second radiologist report on my MRIs. Please do not answer if you are an idiot and just want two points.

The primary identifier of frozen shoulder is restricted motion in a "capsular pattern"...in otherwords, there is a certain pattern of loss of movement. Many patients are diagnosed with frozen shoulder, but when they are under sedation are found to have full range of motion of the shoulder. In otherwords, it wasn't restricted tissues that was preventing the shoulder from moving, it was pain. This can becaused by severe tendonitis, a rotator cuff tear, etc. If your shoulder can be passively moved through its full range of motion, then you do not have frozen shoulder. If there is actually physical RESTRICTION of the tissues in the shoulder, then you very well may have frozen shoulder.

Loss of strength can occur with a pinched nerve, but loss of strength can occur with other reasons as well (again, such as tendonitis and rotator cuff tear). What differentiates a pinched nerve from a shoulder related pathology is that a pinched nerve will replicate symptoms based on certain positions or repeated movements of the neck (and maybe the shoulder) whereas shoulder related pathology will usually replicated symptoms with certain positions or movement of the shoulder, but not the neck.

I hope this leads you in the right direction.

P.S...what were the results of the MRI...and on which body part was it performed?

Have you tried a Chiropractor? If it is a pinched nerve, they may be able to free it without surgery. Having you back aligned might do wonders for you. I would suggest going for a consult at least.
