All cultures have a faith in their own god or gods. This goes back as far as cultures have been recorded...so I guess, as humans we need something to believe in. Don't confuse fanatics and fundamentalists with spritual faith. You are right about the jackasses out their doing dumb and dangerous things in the name of their god...but there are many who are filled with the spirit of their gods that give them goodness and willingess to help others and to do the right thing. I think its handy to have something to believe in...it kinda gives us the feeling of being part of something bigger than our own lives. It connects us with the world and spirituality around us. I don't believe in the God I learnt about in Sunday School, but I have a deep faith in the gods of nature. I see gods everywhere...and I feel that if I please them by doing the right thing...that they will watch over me and my family and keep me in touch with my ancestors who are already gone.
....Just my ramblings.........

You are talking in circles. If the baby was the anitchrist, we'd want it to be born because it has to come into the world. It's be prophecied by Christ in the NT and will happen.

A woman has the right to do whatever she wants with her body? Then why is selling her body illegal? Why is overdosing on drugs illegal? Why is injecting crack into her veins illegal? Why is even committing suicide illegal? Abortion kills a different person's body, not hers. An abortion stops a completely different person's from surviving. It's not her body that she is aborting.

If everyone would have listened to God from the start and remained obedient to Him throughout all these years, there would be very little problems in the world today. It's the rebels that didn't want to do what their parents told them to do that changed things. It was insane people that become extremists that changed things. It was people that wanted power that forced people with fear to follow them that changed things. Without God or a god or Allah or Buddha or whoever, people from somewhere, during some time would have 'invented' a god and religion would have begun. Humans have minds and emotions that have always been seeking things that are beyond our own comprehension. That's why we have science as well. We don't know something so we look for the answer. If we find the answer, it's a fact. If we don't, then we have theories. And for many, we have faith.

Wow. So, you don't see the benefit in something that in reality, has no effect on you so, you want to do away with it.? Hmmm....sounds very Hitler-esque. Hey, while we're at it, let take away cars. I mean, people have killed each other in cars either by accident or on purpose. We could also do away with food. Too many people are fat and die as a result. Since we're on a roll, we should take away computers too. So many bad things happen online. People hook up with people they meet online and whamo!, they get killed by a psycho. That's the computer's fault right?

That's your logic in a nutshell. Something that is helpful to another person should be done away with because it doesn't jive with what you thinks works. Makes sense to me. You should also be in charge of deciding who lives or dies. Let's leave that all up to you because you know best.

Bottom line, you're using a small percentage of religious zealots to prove your point. That would work if I was a stupid 5th grader but, I'm not...sorry. Ever stop to think those people who bomb abortion clinics are just psycho and use religion to justify their stupid actions? During all your deep think sessions, that didn't occur to you at all?

Eh...what do I know? I'm tolerant of others and have been pro-choice for most of my life. I'm sort of silly in the respect that I think people should be left alone to live their lives as long as they're not hurting anyone. Then again, what do I know? I just use my brain and I don't generalize everyone because I'm not judgemental. I have this stupid way of not letting what other believe not affect my life if they're not trying to hurt or convert me. What a silly concept!

Your question has truly opened my eyes to my open minded way. I will try to be more intolerant and judgemental. Ok, I give, it'll be my New Year's resolution for '08.

Let me see if I have your type of reasoning right. I once saw a (insert race here) person selling drugs so all people of that race deal drugs. I once saw an old man homeless with a bottle of whiskey so all old men are homeless and drunk. I once saw a woman put a necklace in her purse without paying for it so all women are shoplifters. I once saw a man slash a car tire so all men slash car tires. Is that about right?

You might be surprised to discover that one or a small group of individuals don't always represent all the people in a church. It's entirely possible that the greater majority reach out to help by providing clothing, food, shelter and other forms of assistance to the community. Gee maybe they do benefit society but then you have to stop being prejudice to find out.

First of all God does exist. Romans 1:20 says "for since the creation of this world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." So we know there is a creator or else how can anything exist. It all had to start by a creator. Having faith not only in God but also in Jesus Christ is our saving grace. Believing in and trusting in Christ is the only thing that will redeem us from our sins. This faith would benefit our society only if all those who claim to have this faith, walk in it and be an example to those who are lost. Also keep in mind, you do not have to believe in God to be judged by God. It would be unfortunate to have to stand in that judgement and not have Christ to stand for you.

Okay here it is. History shows us that religion was used to control the masses. Now it is still used to control people. However, the morals that religion gives society is the trade off for being controlled. Americans who believe in no religion are usually ignorant to the influences of religion. No religious influence means people killing each other for food. Really; eating each other, stealing women, and having sex family members. Religion brings society together. Together we are stronger.

SO MANY TRUTHFUL AND ACCURATE ANSWERS HERE. I will just humbly add that the kind of Religion some people practice - doesn't benefit mankind. Jesus, Himself, said this time and again when confronting the Pharisees. It's about a relationship with God and others. It's "Relationship" Not "Religion" that is most important.

No .... the last thing we need is a Christian armed with a pistol and shooting down everyone on the street and claim it is god's will.

I don't know about others, but personally, I would not want her to get an abortion because the baby is not at fault. What gives you the idea only christian is against abortion ..... please count how many gynaecologists that abort babies are christians.

it benefits society because it gives people something to believe in, something to fight for. even lack of religion is technically a religion, if you're religious about your non-religion. plus i've heard that religious people suffer from depression less than non-religious people, but that's just something i've heard.

as a christian, i wouldn't care if the antichrist was born. bring it on, baby!! i know i'm ready to go to heaven, so i ain't scurrrrred (yeah i said it!).
