Jinns are also one of the creatures like men. They also exist in this universe. No need to worry about them if your faith is strong with the Almighty Allah. Nothing can do good or any harm to you without the Will of Allah. Our faith can overcome anything.

from what i know jinn's powers can be harnessed by certain individuals, but to have that ability they are forced to give favors in return,as for someone possessed by jinn, it starts in most cases by depression, it then ends with possession, the normal behavior would be (different voice coming out of the possessed person, such as a man's voice from a girl's body) fear or disgust of any religious thing word, book,etc., also they may have anxiety attacks, and state of paralyze
I heard about a book called "shams El maaref" (sun of knowledge) that teaches a thing or two( but i would advise strongly against it, because once you're in there's no way out)
some people claim that they are possessed and they have been granted powers,or even married jinn, that is all impossible scientifically and religiously.
So normally simple-minded people or REALLY desperate ones come and ask for this person's help, or just worship him, which is wrong, and in most cases these "powerful"people are con-men!
so all in all anything spiritual that can't be controlled by religious solutions is not to be meddled with.

A person posessed by a Jinn normally will have a coarse voice like his having a bad throat infection. He will also have a strength of more than two able-bodied men. Some of them can speak languages which they had never spoken or learn before. Some stay awake during the night and sleeps in the day. They also will have a voracious appetite and never seem to be full. These are based on my personal encounters.
Other than that, is beyond me.
I do not however have come across people worshipping a posessed person.

There is no existence of ghosts and jinn... anybody claiming to possess spiritual powers is surely a fraud and should be condemned rather than worshiped...the people who worship such people are mostly his own agents...
If there is somebody suspected to have possessed by jinn... he should be taken to a neurologist or psychiatrist at the earliest...

I don't think you will find many people here that can help you, have you talked to an Imam or studied your Quaran. Most of the people here are Christian(myself included) they don't have any concept of djinn.
