I'm not talking about church music. Has any music out there affected you deeply and spiritually? If so, what was it if you don't mind including that, and how did it affect you?

Hmm...some music moves me emotionally,
certain love songs that evoke strong images and sensations of love. Is this what you mean by spiritual? Some songs move me intellectually, they make me think deeply about love and life. Is this spiritual to you?
Some music moves me physically, I can't sit still, the energy is literally propelling me to drum. Is that spiritual? My favorite is the music that shifts me. I'm talking about the alpha state. It's one sidestep away from your normal waking consciousness.
Many use marijuana combined with music
to reach this state, but it's not necessary. You have to recognize it and learn to hold it, then you can experiment with it. Much healing takes place at this level. The potentials available from this level alone are unbelievable.
This must be what you mean by deeply and spiritually.

I like John Mayer's "Waiting On The World To Change". It's not spiritual, but I like the message. Several songs "move" me...

Mad World by Gary Jules
Ave Maria
My Weakness by Moby
The Luckiest by Ben Folds

Etc etc

I have had music inspire me to do things or to help me make a disision. I love to listen to the Newsboys, there music always can calm me down, help me decide something and to just have great words.
I also love KJ-52 necause he talks about everything, and he also can put a funny touch to christianity. Try the "It's Pronounced 5-2" cd it is great.

You know, when I was in my twenties I would listen to Yes 90210. The songs Hold on and Changes were ones I listened to when I ws really feeling horible about myself.

I could probably think of other secular songs that helped me through things, RUSH was a band that would typically get my spirits up just by hearing a few notes from one of their songs.

OMG, there's just so many! I think it really depends on what is going on in my life at any particular time as to what I am listening to and what I find affects me spiritually. I've always loved artists that have a relaxing and calming energy when I'm really stressed; Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Fleetwood Mac, Jon Secada, Enigma and Eric Clapton (the "Pilgrim" album) are just a few. I also really like artists that just put it all out there on the table, because sometimes we just need a reality check, like Tori Amos, Depeche Mode and Indigo Girls. I was really glad to see some artists named here that some might not consider "spiritual music"; I love Madonna too!! (and the Beatles, cool).

As to what I'm listening to now, most recently I love Alanis Morissette's rendition of the Seal song "Crazy", because I think it's just an everyday reminder that we should just get out there and enjoy life. Lately in my life, we've had a lot of health issues come up; I recently learned that I'm diabetic and that I'm nearly what they would consider a Type 1, which means I'll be on insulin for the rest of my life. It means a lot of lifestyle changes and a new outlook on life. I think sometimes we can blame our environments too much for how we feel and get into that self-pity mode, so I really like the song "Me" by Paula Cole because she has a way of just telling it like it is, that often we create the "monsters" in our lives.

I've included links below to some of the songs posters have mentioned in case you're curious as to what is spiritual to some (very interesting!). "River of Tears" is one of my favorites off Eric Clapton's 'Pilgrim' album; really a beautiful and soul-searching album and the one he produced right after his son died.

--Milly, I think you're showing your age here; "Can You Feel It" was a Jackson 5 song (lol!). But we love you, anyway! : ) --

Good luck to you, girl!

The mystic minimalism of Arvo Part is most incredible...hearing it is like meditating...brings me right into that silent state.

George Harrison's music is quite excellent too...'Blow Away' is one of my favourite songs ever...totally uplifting.

Michael Jackson song "Can you feel it"

Can you feel it,
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it
If you look around
The whole world is coming togheter now, baby
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it
Feel it in the air,
The wind is taking it everywhere, yeah
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it
All the colors of the world should be
Lovin' each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it's all right
Take my message to your brother
And tell him twice
Spread the word and try to teach the man
Who's hating his brother,
When hate won't do, ooh
'Cause we're all the same, yes
The blood inside of me is inside of you
Now, tell me
Can you feel it,
Tell me Can you feel it,
Can you feel it, oh
When you see it?s going down
Can you see it in your bones?
Can?t you feel it, yeah
Yeah, yeah, oh
Every breath you take
Is someone's death in another place
(Another place)
Every healthy smile
Is hunger and strife to another child
(Another child)
But the stars do shine
In promising salvation, is near this time
(Near this time)
Can you feel it now
So brothers and sisters show me know how
Now, tell me
Can you feel it,
Tell me can you feel it,
Can you feel it hey hey
Talk to your self now
This feeling is going down
Open up your mind
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it
All the children in the world should be
Loving each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it's all right
Take my message to your brother
And tell him twice
Take the news to the marching men
Who are killing their brothers
When death won't do, ooh
Yes we're all the same
Yes, the blood inside of my vain is inside of you
Now, tell me
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it,
Can you feel it
Can you
Can you
(Can you feel it)
(Can you feel it)
(Can you feel it)

Listen to the song loud and tell me
Can you feel it as the notes vibrate through your Chakra

It is an over whelming feeling a sensation that is unexplainable : )

Love & Blessings
Milly
