Very, it is toxic to them and can make them sick or if they eat a large enough quantity, they can die.
About Pepto Bismol: Because Pepto Bismol contains aspirin it should not be given unless directed by the veternarian. It also should not be given with milk.
Bismuth subsalicylate is used to treat mild vomiting and diarrhea in dogs. It can be fatal if used in cats; use only under direct supervision of your veterinarian. Tongue and stool may darken temporarily. If the vomiting and/or diarrhea persists for more than 48 hours; the pet has a fever, is depressed or shows abdominal pain; or the pet does not continue to be active and alert, contact your veterinarian.

Chocolate is very bad for dogs. But one time the night befor easter my pomeranian ate all the candy out of one of the easter baskets. She's still here today and she's 11 years old. Its best not to feed dogs chocolate, but I don't think a little would hurt the dog, I wouldn't recommend it though.

Yes, but the toxic amounts vary according to the type of chocolate and the dog's size. The following is a good guideline:
Milk Chocolate: 1 ounce per 1 lb. of body weight
Semisweet: 1 ounce per 3 lbs of body weight
Unsweetened Chocolate: 1 ounce per 9 lbs of body weight
Still, if your dog has eaten any amount of chocolate, you should contact your vet to be on the safe side.

Doh, you must know that, surely every dog owner knows. Apparently cooking chocolate is the worst of the lot. Don't even give your dog a taste for chocolate by buying the pet chocolate, too risky, he might get hold of the real thing!

Unfortunately for dogs chocolate tastes really, really good, but chocolate is not really poisonous, not like cyanide. That doesn't change the fact that it can kill your dog. It is theobromine that is harmful to dogs, if you can find chocolate without it you'll have the happiest dog in town. Theobromine is a stimulant found in the coca plant.

Interesting question. Emergency Vet on the Animal Planet covered this quite extensively in one of thier episodes.
Only dark chocolate, the bakers kind, is known to be lethal to dogs. However, any chocolate can make them very ill.
Try giving your pet a little milk to coat his stomach. You can also crush one tablet of Peto Bismal and add it to the milk. If you see blood in his vomit or stool, get him to a vet, but for the most part, this will pass thru his system in 24 hours.
Will he learn anything??? Probably not...

Yes but they have to eat quite a bit of it, but for little dogs it wouldn't take much to kill them. Onions and avocados are poison to them too.

YES!, I used to feed it to my first dog and the vet told me it's like poison to dogs, so I stopped, you should avoid giving your dog human food, I sometimes give mine food scraps such as leftover chicken or beef (no bones), or I will make an egg for him, it's supposed to help to make their hair shiny.
