Cut a small "v" in the center of your nail. It naturally grows to close that gap, pulling the nail away from the ingrown area.
It takes half a day to feel relief, but it works!

Been there done that. See a podiatrist ASAP as this is much better then leaving getting an infection, seeing your GP, going on a course of antibiotics and having the concerned toe nail ripped out. Ouch Twenty fold.

Don't listen to the things everyone says about going to the doctor's. All you have to do is get some antibiotic soap, and soak your toe in it every day. also, it would be good if you had somesort of pick thing, like the ones on nail cutters, to get the nail out of your skin. Afterwards, put some neosporin on it. Really helps.

If you can, slide a tiny piece of cotton ball or tissue between the nail and the skin. Leave it there a day or two. This may keep the nail from poking into the skin.

Get it permanently cut my cousin did that and she doesn't get anymore.

p.s. it only hurts for the first night and then it doesnt hurt any more
