Should the groom be expected to show up to a bridal shower even though it is not a "couples" shower?

The groom usually does not attend a traditional bridal shower, but often comes at the very end of the shower, with flowers or some gift for the bride, to say goodbye to the guests and help load up the gifts. But, this may be a local thing as the other people who have answered have said no. If the groom does not want to be there, it will not look bad.

No, the groom should not come. I have never heard of the groom comming to a bridal shower. Bridal showers are the girls day out and a time for you to thank all your flower girls, mother in law, bridesmaids, mother, grandmother.

My fiance stayed for my bridal showers, and I was so thankful and happy that he did!

I didn't know a lot of people on his side of the family, and of course his mother has to invite 30-some people when in actuality I asked for a small and simple shower. He really helped me out by keeping names straight and pointing people out. Who's related to who, who does what, and so on.

Even at my bridal shower, my aunt told me how glad she was he stayed! She said it was nice to see him let loose and hang out with the girls, because around the family he's a little quiet.

So don't expect your groom to show up, but definately invite him! It made a great time for me!!!

No he is not expected to attend. Traditionally, the bride has a bridal shower and the groom has a bachelor party. The groom doesn't go to the shower and the bride doesn't go to the bachelor party.

Usually the groom will show up towards the end to thank the guests and to help get the gifts back home.

If the bridal shower is not a couples party and its a female party instead, its usually called a bachelorette party.

My husband stayed for my whole shower, I loved it. And my sisters husband came at the end of hers to say hello and thank you, but those are the only two showers that I have ever been to that the men have been present. I guess my family is just weird, but I enjoyed showing my husband the things that we got as I opened the gifts!

What happens in our circle of family and friends, is that the groom would show up towards the end - just so people can meet him and congratulate him. Like, he comes to help pack up the gifts.

Typically the groom does not go to the shower if it's not co-ed.
