The effect of chromium depends on the oxidation state. The hexavalent form is toxic but the trivalent form is essential for carbohydrate and protein metabolism.

With that being said. There is no evidence to show that extra chromium causes or enhances fat loss. Fat loss is caused by creating a caloric deficit (preferrably without starvation) with nutrition and exercise.

No, chromium causes cancer. Didn't you see the movie Erin Brockevich with Julia Roberts. It was how the chromium got in the water suppy and made everyone sick.

I have been taking chromium for several years (I am scared of getting diabetes) and I noticed that it does curb cravings for sugars. I don't think it directly causes weight loss but it can help if sugar is your major downfall.
