I have answered questions similar to this many times but I will do so again because I believe it is important to you.

I don't believe that animals have a soul in the same sense that people do, but the loving God I know would look very kindly on that wonderful pet that brought joy on bad days, brought laughter and happiness during sad times and that gave unquestioning and absolute love to his/her human friend. I have had many pets and I believe that God has a special place just for them. Perhaps we will be fortunate enough to be allowed to be with them also after our own death. Wouldn't that be great?

"For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust." -- Ecclesiastes 3:19

The Bible says that there is no difference between men and animals when it comes to life and death.

"And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul." -- Genesis 2:7

So, the man is just dust and breath of life (spirit) => he is a soul. Adam became a living soul. If it says living than it means that it can also be dead => we are not immortal.
"The soul that is sinning—it itself will die." -- Ezekiel 18:4

"In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return." -- Genesis 3:19
