If we examine the etymological evidence we can see that Christians, Jews, and Muslims do, indeed, worship the same God under different names.

1. The Arabic name for God is Allah. It means "the God". It is derived from the Arabic word Illah which simply means god. It is related to --

2. Alaha the Aramaic word for God. For those who haven't heard yet, Aramaic was Christ's native language. A sample of this language can be found in the Gospel of Matthew -- In Matthew 27:46 Christs cries out, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?" Alaha is in turn related to --

3. Elohim the Hebrew word for God used more often in the Bible than YHWH. It is thought to be related to the word --

4. El a Semitic word meaning god or God depending on the context. El was the original creator god and supreme deity of all the Semitic people of the Levant.

It should be pointed out that even Arabic speaking Christians use Allah when referring to God.

While it is true that the star and crescent adopted by many Muslim nations is originally associated with an ancient lunar deity, that symbol was not used by Muslims until hundreds of years after Mohamed's death. It is not universally recognized by all Muslims as an Islamic symbol and in its Islamic context it refers to the night during Ramadan when Mohammed is thought to have had his first encounter with the angel Gabriel.

It should also be noted that the Icthus symbol used by Christians was originally used as a pagan fertility symbol. If you don't believe it, turn one vertically and see what it looks like.
